70% of China's LTE wins the global 4G standard
Houlin Zhao, deputy secretary general of the International Telecommunications Union, said recently that China ’s TD-LTE technology will win 70% of the world ’s 4G. It is estimated that the results will be announced in October this year.
Houlin Zhao said that when TD technology was promoted to 3G technology, China had no market and no experience. In this case, all were selected, and the chances of TD-LTE being selected as the global 4G standard were even greater.
He also said that now all parties are trying hard to push their technology to 4G, but from the perspective of ITU, it is best to have only one technology, but this situation is currently unlikely. He mentioned that including WiMax is also trying to enter the 4G standard, which may not be pushed in, but is also trying to find a way, otherwise the market will be very small in the next ten years.
China's communication standards have always been difficult to promote internationally, but TD-LTE, which is regarded as a quasi-4G technology, may win back a round for China. The industry believes that China's TD-LTE Advanced is likely to eventually defeat the WiMax standard and become the main standard for global 4G communications.
