Application-oriented approach
The broad applicability of this type of solution is lower than that of the platform. But from another perspective, they are more focused in specific areas. Most of these programs focus on machine control and motion control and strive to exceed existing performance and limits. These technologies also include device diagnostics, software solutions and integrated interfaces, but their support field is focused on more subdivided areas than on all factory production systems. They strive to improve performance to a higher level and optimize and upgrade machine grades and motion systems. EthernetCAT, Ethernet Powerl ink is classified as this class.
how to choose?
For all manufacturers or machines, is it only one of the technologies that is the “right†solution? of course not. Manufacturers must weigh the value of the two types of programs. Is there another profit that is more valuable than the benefits of using a common solution? If so, how do these solutions compare to the cost of maintaining another plant layer technology and corresponding supplier relationship within a few years? This is a critical issue and only the end user can answer.
