The electronic thermometer consists of a temperature sensor, a liquid crystal display, a button battery, an ASIC and other electronic components. It can quickly and accurately measure human body temperature. The circuit of the electronic thermometer is shown below. Thermistor RT is marked with R1, R2, R3 and RP1. When the temperature is 20 °C, R1 and R3 are selected and RP1 is adjusted to balance the bridge.
The thermistor used in the figure has a resistance value between 500 and 5000 Ω. The thermistor used in this example has a resistance of 1000 Ω.
When the temperature rises. The resistance of the thermistor RT becomes small, the bridge is in an unbalanced state, and the unbalanced voltage of the bridge output is amplified by the operational amplifier. The amplified unbalanced voltage causes a corresponding deflection of the microampere meter connected in the op amp feedback circuit. The body temperature can be measured by converting the mA meter value to the corresponding temperature value.
