Incentive testing: market demand and access standards for overseas landscape lighting projects

Landscape lighting products are exported overseas, mainly in two major target markets - Europe and the United States. At present, the European market is already in a state of no threshold for many manufacturers; for the US market, there are still strict access requirements and sampling systems. It makes many companies daunting.

On July 8th, at the LED Outdoor Road Landscape Lighting Symposium successfully held in Qingqing World, Mr. Yang Cheng, Sales and Testing Sales Manager, made a speech entitled “The Market Demand and Access Standards for Overseas Landscape Lighting Project”. Explain in detail.

“Incentive Testing (LTL), as a comprehensive and comprehensive testing platform, provides high quality quality management, standardized testing, inspection, auditing, certification and consulting services. Currently the company has three NV LAP laboratories, respectively Located in Hangzhou, Texas and Michigan, and in Hangzhou, Guangzhou and Texas, there are security testing laboratories.” According to Mr. Yang Cheng.

Today, landscape lighting products are exported overseas, mainly in two major target markets - Europe and the United States, and the current situation of "zero threshold" in the European market is undoubted for many manufacturers, including LVD, EMC, ERP, ROHS and other certifications. . The atmosphere in the US market is just the opposite. It still enforces strict access requirements and sampling systems, which makes many companies daunting.

In his speech, Yang Cheng repeatedly emphasized the access requirements of the US market, which generally consisted of four parts, first, the safety requirements (Safety); second, the requirements of the first 24 CEC (mainly for California); third, energy efficiency Requirements (DLC); fourth, FCC (from the perspective of federal law).

“Export certification is divided into two categories, one is mandatory certification led by federal law; the other is voluntary certification.” Yang Cheng concluded.

As we all know, the US market is dominated by voluntary certification, and many companies are still flocking. The reason for this is that Mr. Yang Cheng gave the audience a wonderful answer at the meeting.

Mainly from three aspects, first, from the perspective of consumers, the need for safety and quality of products; second, from the perspective of buyers or dealers, there is a need to reduce risks; third, subsidies (rebate Policy (there will be corresponding subsidies for selling products, and the rebate of many products is higher than the price of the product). Different institutions in different states may have different subsidy policies.

For example, from a subsidy from a power company in Vermont, USA, for outdoor products, a subsidy of $100 is granted for products below 5000 lumens; a subsidy of $175 for products of 5000 to 10,000 lumens; More than 10,000 lumens of product subsidies reach $250. It can be seen that the amount of subsidy is very attractive to buyers, and if there is corresponding certification, the possibility of buyer selection is very high.

The products that have passed the DLC (Design Lights Consortium) certification continue to increase in number from 2014 to 2016. Without a written certificate, the certification results will only be displayed on the website. “DLC is an energy efficiency program initiated by the Northeastern Energy Efficiency Partnership. Its goal is to promote the promotion of high-quality, energy-efficient lighting products in commercial lighting. It is complementary to Energy Star.”

Yangcheng gave a summary of the three aspects of the difficulty of the US standard requirements for landscape lighting:

First, the latest DLC technical specifications have significantly increased the efficacy requirements. On June 1 this year, (DLC) released the latest technical specification V4.0, which greatly improved the light efficiency requirements compared with the previous V3.0/3.1.

Second, the intensity distribution. DLC V4.0, which was just launched on June 1 this year, has an execution time of: DLC V4.0 and DLC V3.0/3.1 are currently valid. By September 1, DLC V3.0/3.1 will be discontinued. Only products submitted by DLC V4.0 will be accepted. By April 1 next year, DLC will remove products that do not comply with V4.0 from QPL. Therefore, the relevant manufacturers should update the products in time, otherwise the products will be removed by the time.

Third, the choice of lens. In accordance with the requirements of UL1598, 5VA fireproof grade materials are required for outdoor products. At this time, it is necessary to analyze the structure of the luminaire. If the power supply of the product can be powered by the power of Class 2/LVLE/LPS and meet certain conditions (the output voltage should not exceed 30V when used outdoors), the material requirements of the casing can be Reduced to HB; if the product's power supply is not powered by the Class 2/LVLE/ LPS power supply, the lens housing material requires 5VA.

At the end of the speech, the survey and testing of Yangcheng also highlighted the latest cooperation with Gaogong Industry Research Co., Ltd. - ProductFact (network platform), which is mainly for the market research and procurement of Chinese products exported to the United States, and now we are The export of LED products, through the use of resources in the United States to allow Chinese products to enter the US market.

Dr. Zhang Xiaofei, Chairman of the High-Technology Research Institute, said that this month, the products that have entered the US market and passed the certification will be announced on the Internet.
