Munich, Germany, January 29, 2018 – Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) introduces the latest integrated point-of-load power product (IPOL) family that combines ease of use with high power density. This is the industry's first fully integrated voltage regulator with PMBUS, SVID and PVID capabilities to power Intel CPUs, low current POLs, chipsets and ASICs/FPGAs. It offers 50% less space than traditional discrete power solutions and is the smallest solution in its class.
The IR38163/5 and IR38363/5 are designed to power Intel Vccio and Vcmp and servers that require SVID-enabled Intel chips. These devices do not require programming because they are already pre-configured according to Intel requirements and specific digital addresses.
The IR38263/5 features a 3-bit parallel VID (PVID) for powering Intel chipset PVNNs and FPGAs. It is ideal for telecom applications that require fixed-frequency operation, as well as network communication and storage applications that require large amounts of PMBus, precision Vout, and ultra-low ripple.
The IPOL device product line uses the latest OptiMOSTM 5 technology and therefore has a distinct efficiency advantage. In addition, the small 7 mm x 7 mm PQFN Cu-clip package allows the device to operate at 30 amps at high frequencies without the need for a strong fan to dissipate heat. Pin-compatible options are supported with or without PMBus support. The product line uses Infineon's industry-leading PWM engine for ultra-low ripple and frequency jitter. They minimize noise and increase bandwidth while requiring less capacitance than other designs. Differential voltage sampling, wide margining range, and 0.5% reference voltage accuracy together achieve 1% output voltage accuracy.
