Invested USD 1 Billion in Intel Vietnam Packaging Plant Completed and Put into Production

Intel announced last Friday that it plans to invest $1 billion in the completion of the chip packaging and testing plant in Vietnam. This is Intel's largest worldwide factory of the same type and will create thousands of jobs for Vietnam.

Intel in the communique explained the general situation of the Vietnamese factory. The new factory in Vietnam is located in the Saigon High-tech Park in the 9th district of Ho Chi Minh City. This is the biggest project that Intel has built since it established an office in Ho Chi Minh City in 1997. The total area of ​​the Vietnam factory exceeds 46,000 square meters, equivalent to 5 and a half football fields. Unlike Intel’s $2.5 billion chip manufacturing plant built in Dalian, China, the plant is responsible for chip testing and internal packaging.

Intel officials stated: "For Intel silicon industry, packaging and testing is a very important part of the entire work chain industry."

The Vietnam chip packaging factory is currently responsible for the final packaging and manufacturing of notebooks and mobile device chips. Once it is fully operational in the future, it will bring huge export value to Vietnam.

Intel said that it was attracted to Vietnam mainly because it had a good view of its abundant human resources, and it was also inseparable from the Vietnamese government’s continuous and sincere invitation for four consecutive years. The Intel Vietnam Factory Project was announced in 2006 and March 2007.
