Static synchronous compensator technology breakthrough On December 6th, the Chongqing Power Company's "Study on Key Technologies of STATCOM (Static Synchronous Compensator)-intensive Power Grids" passed acceptance. The project will effectively improve the level of safety and stability of the Chongqing power grid, and will play an exemplary role in accelerating the promotion and application of related technologies.

In January 2011, the "Technology Project of STATCOM Key Technologies for Intensive Metropolitan Power Grids" was established. This project takes Chongqing Power Grid as the background, analyzes the demand of STATCOM for the intensive metropolitan power grid, and studies the system access problem of STATCOM devices. The main circuit topology is simulated and analyzed, and the control protection strategy is verified on the experimental platform.

Experts of the acceptance committee believed that the relevant research results of the project laid the foundation for the promotion and application of large-capacity STATCOM in Chongqing power grid, and reached the advanced level overall, in which the design and control protection strategy of large-capacity STATCOM reached the international advanced level.
