The product development project received $10.3 million in funding and was selected by Cree, General Electric (GE), Lightscape Materials, Osram Sylvania, Philips Lumileds and PPG industries. The manufacturing project received $23.5 million in funding and was selected by Applied Materials, GE Global Research, GE Lumination, KLA-Tencor, Philips Lumileds, Ultratech, Universal Display and Veeco Instruments.
   Each selected project will focus on a pre-defined research area. For example, GE will study phosphors for warm white LED light engines.
