Earlier this week, Oculus announced an exciting new feature on its developer's blog where developers can support DLC in virtual reality (VR) games. This is because of changes made by Oculus that support multiple dynamic extension files. Since this is a frequently used system, the Oculus mobile platform now supports DLC.
New features are currently being tested, but this means that developers will be able to update content already in the Oculus mobile store. Regardless of whether this new content adds extra characters or new levels to the video game, or additional images and media files, the new DLC support will provide developers with greater application size and additional revenue opportunities.
For consumers, these new features mean that DLC content will soon appear on the Oculus mobile virtual reality version, and some users will think this is a good thing, but some people think this is a bad thing. This is not mentioned in the Oculus developer's blog. As developers launch various DLC plug-ins, the future of these features in the Oculus mobile store remains to be seen.
It's worth noting that with more content that might come up, storage space issues will be noticed. The minimum version of Oculus Go is only 32GB of storage, which may not be enough for games that often require DLC. However, Oculus has mentioned that Oculus will plan to use USB storage devices in the future.
