The ADM2587E power and signal isolation RS-485 transceivers are available in two options for easy evaluation; the EVAL-ADM2587EEBZ 6-layer EN55022 Class B radiation-compatible evaluation board or the EVAL-ADM2587EEBZ 2-layer EN55022 Class A radiation-compatible evaluation board. Both evaluation board options are equipped with a 20-lead wide body SOIC device, the ADM2582E.
The EVAL-ADM2587EEBZ evaluation board is designed to reduce the radiation generated by high frequency switching elements using isoPower® technology; this technology transfers power through its transformers. The 6-layer evaluation board is laid out according to the principles in Application Note AN-0971: “Isolation Control for IsoPower Devicesâ€. The EVAL-ADM2587EEBZ evaluation board has been tested by an independent testing agency. The EV kit passed the IEC 61000-4-5 surge test up to 2 kV.

Compared with other RS-485 interface chips, the ADM2582E/ADM2587E integrates magnetic isolation technology and DC/DC power supply. It is a true single-chip RS-485 integrated chip, which greatly reduces the PCB area. The application circuit of ADM2582E/ADM2587E is shown in Figure 5. This circuit is for reference only. In case of special application, for the safety of equipment and system, you can choose other protective measures, such as TVS.
