Facts / points:
• The highest level of protection. The new transmission line clamp architecture provides full protection for HDMI TMDS signals and reduces clamping voltage during electrostatic discharge. The control line is equipped with a “zero clamp” buffer that completely isolates these signals from the ESD strike. All 13 signal lines and 5V power lines are capable of withstanding voltages of ±8 kV and comply with IEC 61000-4-2 Level 4 standards. In addition, the IP4786CZ32 is the only solution that integrates an overcurrent-limited 5V LDO that meets the HDMI 1.4 overcurrent protection requirements.

• Optimal signal integrity. The TLC (Transmission Line Clamping) protection architecture integrates impedance-matched inductors and ESD protection devices to provide a 100 ohm matched differential impedance. Unlike traditional parallel ESD devices that require board-specific external compensation, the IP4786CZ38 does not require any adjustments to the PCB layout, and the impedance is independent of the PCB stack. The buffers on the control lines are the industry's first solution to provide voltage level translation for both high and low logic levels. These buffers also effectively overcome the slow signal rise time inherent in long cables and provide excellent support for long cables.

• Simple interface design. The IP4786CZ32 is designed to create an HDMI signal conditioning and protection solution with the lowest component count and the smallest board area. Compared to competing solutions, the IP4786CZ32 not only reduces up to 29 discrete components, but also reduces board footprint by 60%.

• The NXP IP4786CZ32 signal conditioning IC is compatible with HDMI 1.3a and 1.4 standards, 340MHz pixel timing, dark and HDMI Ethernet and Audio Return Channel (HEAC) features, with the following features:
o Transmission line clamp architecture: 100-Ω impedance matched differential transmission line and TMDS line ESD protection without PCB pre-compensation
o Zero clamp buffer can effectively prevent ESD pulse from being transmitted to the HDMI control line of the system chip
o ±8 kV ESD protection for all HDMI signals, in accordance with IEC61000-4-2 Level 4
o Current-limiting LDO regulators provide 5V output voltage and support up to 6.5 V input voltage
o DDC, CEC, hot swap and HEAC lines with high and low logic level voltage conversion to effectively compensate for the high resistance of the external switch at the HDMI input
o DDC snubber capacitor decoupling mechanism between system and HDMI connector for effective support of long cable (> 700 pF/25m)
o 32-pin HVQFN package (5 mm x 5 mm x 0.85 mm) with optimized routing design
