Principle and application of secure broadcasting

The secure broadcast technology enables the mobile multimedia terminal to have the ability to authenticate the legitimacy of the multimedia broadcast service by inserting secure broadcast information into the mobile multimedia broadcast signal. That is, when the mobile multimedia broadcast is maliciously replaced or falsified during the transmission process, the terminal can stop the illegal service presentation in time.


The secure broadcast system is composed of a front-end subsystem and a terminal module, wherein the front-end subsystem implements generation and transmission of secure broadcast information, and the terminal module implements reception and processing of secure broadcast information.

The secure broadcast front-end subsystem obtains the multiplexing control information table and the service characteristic information, and generates secure broadcast information according to the information, and multiplexes the transmission in the form of data service. The multiplexing subsystem uses a separate multiplex subframe to carry the secure broadcast information, assigns a service identification number thereto, and transmits it via the broadcast channel.

When the terminal receives the mobile multimedia broadcast service content, the secure broadcast terminal module obtains the secure broadcast information from the transmission frame according to the service identification number, and verifies the security broadcast information, and confirms the legality of the broadcast service content according to the verification result. Implementation of Secure Broadcast in CMMB Terminal

The figure above shows the hardware connection diagram of TF376 in the CMMB terminal. The TF376 is connected to the AP (application processor) or CP (coprocessor) of the terminal through the UART interface. The SMD CA chip of Nagra is connected to the TF376 through the 7816 interface. When the CMMB terminal system works, the AP or CP demultiplexes the received CMMB code stream to obtain a multiplex frame, and transmits the multiplex frame to the TF376 software module, and the TF376 software module performs CA descrambling on the corresponding multiplex frame. Secure broadcast information processing, the player can obtain descrambled clear stream data from the TF376 software module and decode it.
