According to foreign media AutoExpress, BMW will launch a pure electric version of the BMW 3 Series sedan at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2017, with the opponent locking Tesla's Model 3.
According to the news, the electric version of the BMW 3 Series will be equipped with a 90kW battery pack with a cruising range of up to 300 miles, or about 483 kilometers. Compared to the regular version, the eDrive Sport logo will appear on the rear of the BMW 3 Series.
The new BMW 3 Series will be built on the CLAR platform. With the combined use of steel, aluminum and carbon fiber materials, the weight of the vehicle is expected to be reduced by 80 kg, and the rear space of the vehicle is expected to increase further. The entry version will be powered by a 1.5T three-cylinder engine with a maximum power output of 138 hp.
